Freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) has been endorsed by two groups that advocate against voter suppression: the Voter Projection Project and Let America Vote.
Both groups have ties to the Democratic Party.
“Congressman Kim is already changing the way Washington works,” said Tiffany Muller, who runs Let America Vote as well as End Citizens United, which has already endorsed Kim. “His record in Congress has made it abundantly clear that he always puts people over special interests. His decision to refuse money from corporate PACs underscores that commitment.”
Let America Vote ranks all 50 states for their protection of “free, fair and accessible elections.”
New Jersey gets a 6.5 out of ten, losing points for not having online voter registration and same-day vote registration, and for not having paper ballot backups – a point that is not exactly correct. New Jersey has provisional ballots at polling places for use when machine voting doesn’t work.
Kim faces Republican David Richter, a former construction company CEO, in the general election in New Jersey’s 3rd district.
