The New York and New Jersey State Conference of the Transport Workers Union of America has endorsed Democrat Tom Malinowski for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th district.

“Unionizing is about protecting middle class families and keeping the economy in balance. With so much political uncertainty, we need someone in Congress who has our back,” said Steven Hamm, president of Local 229 and New Jersey State Conference Chair. “We trust Tom Malinowski’s record for defending labor rights and are proud to endorse him in this election.”

Malinowski, a former Assistant U.S. Secretary of State in the Obama administration, faces five-term Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Clinton) on November 6.  Polls continue to show the race within the margin of error.

The union, which represents more than 80,000 public transportation, aviation, railroad, university, utility, and services workers across New Jersey and New York.
