Sires headed to ninth term in House

Rep. Albio Sires (D-West New York) will win a ninth term in Congress, the New Jersey Globe projects.

He will defeat Republican attorney Jason Mushnick, who never really had a shot at winning the heavily-democratic Hudson-County-based eighth congressional district.

With 2018’s warette between Hudson Democrats concluded — and with Sires on the winning side — and hatchets in the county still largely buried, Sires’ re-election was all but assured.

He did face a primary challenge from progressive Hector Oseguera, but despite the attorney’s challenge drawing some national attention, the contest wasn’t close.
