Sierra Club endorses Menendez

The Sierra Club, the country’s largest grassroots environmental organization, endorsed U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez’s on Thursday.

“Bob Menendez is a proven, steadfast environmental champion, fighting to protect the health of New Jersey’s environment and the well-being of New Jersey families,” New Jersey Sierra Club Political Chair Richard Isaac said. “New Jersey needs a fighter in the Senate who will stand up to Donald Trump’s attacks on our clean air, clean water, our oceans and our beaches.

While it could prove useful for mobilizing some voters, the endorsement doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

The Sierra Club’s PAC gives almost exclusively to Democrats, donating a mere $3,500 to Republican candidates since 2010.
