Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) has been endorsed by the SEIU New Jersey State Council, his second major labor endorsement in as many days.
“Throughout his career in public service, Andy has been a staunch ally of our members, their families, and communities. We trust that Andy will advance the issues important to them at this especially critical time, when we are faced with two grave public health crises—the COVID-19 pandemic and vast racial inequity,” said Milly Silva, State Council President and EVP of 1199SEIU. “Andy’s history of demanding workers’ rights, racial and gender justice, immigrant rights, accessible medical care, and economic security for all makes him the best candidate to represent our members, and all of his constituents in Congress.”
Kim received the support of the New Jersey Laborers Union (LiUNA) on Thursday, an influential building trades union that had endorsed Republicans congressional candidates in New Jersey’s 3rd district in the last four elections.
Both SEIU and Laborers come with money, boot-on-the-ground campaign workers, and votes in the 3rd districts.
Kim faces Republican David Richter, the former Hill International CEO, in the general election.
