Reiner Prijten’s never having lived in the 11th congressional district might make mounting a successful congressional bid there difficult, Rep. Mikie Sherrill said Thursday.
“You have to live in the state to run, so I assume he’ll be rectifying that shortly,” Sherrill said. “But I don’t think he’s even lived in the area as far as I know, so to have that kind of connection and understanding of our district would be difficult.”
Prijten immigrated to the United States when he was 18. He’s lived in New York for most of the last 30 years but now resides in California. He intends to move to Morristown sometime this month.
Once he does, Sherrill has a few food recommendations.
“I’ll give a shoutout to Chris Cannon and Jockey Hollow because that’s a wonderful place,” she said. “There’re falafels in Montclair that are great if you wanted to spend less money that I can highly recommend, and we actually have a great new Israeli-French breakfast place in Montclair that I can recommend to him as well.”
Sherrill, a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor, flipped a House seat held by Republicans for 24 years, in the 2018 mid-term elections.
