The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 has endorsed Bob Menendez for U.S. Senate and is backing two Republican congressmen in tough races – Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) and Leonard Lance (R-Clinton) in their bids for re-election.

The union is also backing two Democrats seeking to flip longtime Republican House seats: State Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis) in the 2nd, and former Navy helicopter pilot Mikie Sherrill in the 11th.

While Local 825 has made predominately Democratic endorsements, they also backed GOP candidates for freeholder in Atlantic, Burlington and Somerset counties.

“We’re excited to support candidates who back organized labor and recognize the importance of infrastructure investment in a challenging political environment,” said Greg Lalevee, Business Manager of IUOE 825. “These candidates have championed policies that will continue to create good-paying jobs, defend labor rights and make New Jersey a better place to live and work. Our members are proud to back them.”

Local 825 is backing incumbent House members in the other eight districts, including Republican Rep. Christopher Smith (R-Hamilton).
