The Monmouth University Polling Institute will release the results of a new poll on Thursday on New Jersey’s view of Cory Booker’s campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The poll will include job approval ratings for U.S. Senator Bob Menendez – the first poll since the Democrat won re-election three months ago – and President Donald Trump.
The Monmouth Poll will also compare Booker’s standing in New Jersey to Gov. Chris Christie, who sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.
A February 2015 Monmouth poll put Christie’s approval ratings at 48%-44% and favorables at 38%-40%. The poll showed that 40% of New Jerseyans said Christie would be a less effective governor while seeking the presidency, while 47% said his candidacy would have no impact. More than half of New Jerseyans polled (52%) thought Christie does not have the right temperament to be president; 44% said he did.
