U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez tonight added his approbation of Gov. Phil Murphy’s nomination of Matt Platkin as New Jersey’s next Attorney General.

“Matt is a great young legal mind and a fierce advocate for justice,” Menendez said.  “Governor Murphy has made an excellent choice for New Jersey’s next Attorney General, and I congratulate Matt on his nomination.”

Menendez praised Platkin’s achievements in a career in the private sector and as Murphy’s chief counsel from 2018 to 2020.

“His time in public service and private practice has shown his commitment to advancing the most important missions in our state, such as eradicating the gun violence that is plaguing communities and strengthening the relationships between law enforcement and those they are sworn to protect,” the state’ senior U.S. Senator said.

U.S. Senator Cory Booker also vouched for Platkin today, along with Reps. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) and Andy Kim (D-Moorestown).
