Senate Health Committee Chairman Joseph Vitale (D-Woodbridge) today praised the nomination of Matt Platkin to serve as Attorney General of New Jersey by Gov. Phil Murphy.

“As the state’s top law enforcement official, I trust in Matt’s stated commitment to public safety and equal rights for all of our residents in every community in New Jersey,” said Vitale.  “I believe that he will enforce the laws fairly and will make sure that justice is delivered for everyday people.  Matt will embrace his responsibilities as the ‘people’s lawyer’ at a time when it is needed.”

Five Democratic senators from Middlesex County – Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro), Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick), Bob Smith (D-Piscataway), Patrick Diegnan (D-South Plainfield) and Vitale – issued statements lauding the Platkin nomination.

A former chief counsel to Murphy, Platkin is a partner at Lowenstein Sandler.  He will succeed Andrew Bruck as acting attorney general pending his confirmation by the State Senate.
