Former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official Rik Mehta has won the Middlesex County Republican organization line, his 13th endorsement by a county GOP organization in his bid to run for U.S. Senate against Cory Booker.

Mehta defeated Hirsh Singh by a vote of 151 to 30, an 80%-16% margin,  with Natalie Rivera receiving 7 votes.

No votes were cast for Tricia Flanagan.

Mehta has won endorsements in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Passaic,  Salem Somerset, Union and Warren counties.

Singh has won conventions in Ocean and Cape May counties.

The votes were cast online after Middlesex County GOP chair Lucille Panos cancelled the convention as a cautionary measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
