McCann cash-strapped as campaign enters final weeks

John McCann had just $34,564.42 banked at the end of September, a far cry from the more than $5 million sitting in his opponent’s war chest.

McCann raised $145,948.33 during the third quarter, more than doubling his total fundraising from donations this cycle, to $249690.40. The candidate has also put $328,620.44 of his own money into the campaign, though little of that money remains.

The challenger spent $119,876.37 this quarter.

McCann faces something of an uphill battle against Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who in 2016 ousted longtime Rep. Scott Garrett, 51%-47%, in a district won by President Donald Trump 48%-47%.
