Rep. Leonard Lance is pushing legislation to boost election security efforts to prevent Russian meddling in the coming midterms.
“We need to do more to protect our essential democratic process. The Secure Elections Act should pass both chambers and be signed into law as soon as possible. I strongly oppose the reported efforts to delay this legislation and have added my name as a cosponsor in support,” Lance said.
Should the bill pass both chambers of Congress, it will streamline the sharing of cybersecurity information between intelligence agencies and state election boards while also providing state officials with security clearances.
Those efforts would add to the $10 million New Jersey was recently given for election security efforts.
