The Philadelphia Inquirer, which likely has more readers in New Jersey’s 3rd district than local in-state newspapers, has endorsed Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) for re-election to a third term by saying that he provides decency and dedication to the Congress.
“Kim’s decency and dedication were captured in a viral photograph of him in a blue suit picking up trash left behind by the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol,” the editorial said. “A week later, he wore the same suit, with dust still on the knees, to vote to impeach Trump. The suit is now part of our nation’s collections at the Smithsonian — an enduring reminder of Kim’s commitment to preserving democracy.”
The Inquirer praised Republican challenger Bob Healey for meeting with their editorial board and for saying that Joe Biden won the 2020 election but called his policy positions “clearly out of touch with everyday New Jerseyans.”
Healey, the editorial stated, “espouses other GOP culture-war talking points surrounding ‘woke ideology.’”
This is Kim’s third Philadelphia Inquirer endorsement. The newspaper supported his bid to unseat Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) in 2018, and his 2020 re-election campaign.
