The Philadelphia Inquirer endorsed House challenger Amy Kennedy over Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) Friday.
The newspaper’s editorial board called Van Drew’s defection to the Republican party and ensuing pledge of “undying support” for President Donald Trump constituted a betrayal off the voters who put him in office.
“The rise of Amy Kennedy, the talented Democratic newcomer challenging Van Drew’s bid for re-election, offers voters in the sprawling 2nd Congressional District a trustworthy alternative to the tarnished incumbent,” the editorial board said.
The Inquirer covers South Jersey.
In its endorsement, the paper cited Kennedy’s South Jersey roots and support for additional small business stimulus.
