Amy Kennedy today launched an online ad that pounds Rep. Jeff Van Drew for his party switch and his pledge of “undying support” to President Donald Trump.
The digital ad, alleging that “Van Drew stopped working for South Jersey and started working for himself” will begin running today, in advance of Van Drew’s address to the Republican National Convention this evening.
Kennedy’s ad includes footage of Van Drew and Trump in the White House, with Trump announcing that the 2nd district congressman was becoming a Republican. It ends with a clip of Trump: “I’m sorry. You’re fired.”
Kennedy is also airing a new TV ad talking about how South Jersey families and small businesses are struggling.
Kennedy’s ad, “Recovery,” will run on Philadelphia broadcast and cable television in the eight counties that are part of New Jersey’s 2nd district.
The ad is narrated by Kennedy, and includes footage of Van Drew shaking hands with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office after deciding to switch parties. It also includes image of her five children and her husband, former Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy (D-Rhode Island), the scion of one of America’s most prominent political families.
