Democratic congressional candidate Brigid Callahan Harrison has picked up another labor endorsement, this one from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 351.
IBEW Local 351 represents over 2,000 union members in New Jersey’s 2nd district.
“IBEW Local 351 believes in supporting candidates who support the prosperity and security of our members and advocate for collective bargaining, and we are proud to announce that we have found our candidate with Brigid Harrison,” said Dan Cosner, the Local 351 business administration. “We must support a candidate who will have the backs of working men and women throughout the district, is a strong communicator, understands the challenges faced by organized labor. Brigid is the only candidate ready to take on the totality of this fight.”
Harrison has already won endorsements from the Atlantic and Cape May Counties Central Labor Council, the South Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council, the American Federation of Teachers, the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #4 and #5 and United Here Local 54, a major hotel and gaming employees union in Atlantic City.
“Brigid is a lifelong member of our community and a longtime union member and we are confident that as Congresswoman, Brigid will work to protect the right to collectively bargain, enforce laws to make job sites safer, deliver support for apprenticeship and journey-level training and fight for improved wages, hours and working conditions,” Cosner said. “The 2020 race of New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District is the most important in the nation. We all must realize that this election year is unlike any other – and each of us to do our part now, there is no time to wait.”
