The state’s largest firefighter union has endorsed Brigid Callahan Harrison for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district.
The New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association represents more than 5,000 firefighters, EMTs and dispatchers across the state.
“With the reality of the fiscal crisis New Jersey will face due to this pandemic, now more than ever, we must bring leadership to DC and elect someone willing to fight to be sure Federal dollars make it back to New Jersey,” said Ed Donnelly, the NJ FMBA president. “There is a reason Senator Booker has chosen to bracket and only run with Brigid – because she is the candidate that can beat Jeff Van Drew.”
Donnelly said that Harrison sought out the FBMA endorsement and said the political science professor “has listened to our concerns, our ideas, and has shown clear expertise on policy and legislation.”
“At this time, we must send someone to Congress that does not require on the job training,” Donnelly said. “Brigid has continued to address the COVID-19 pandemic – she has provided true policy solutions that will protect our members while keeping the residents of New Jersey safe.”
