The Human Fundraising Machine is lending his fundraising prowess to his home county Democratic organization.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) will host a high-dollar fundraising dinner for newly-elected Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano on Monday evening.

This is Juliano’s first major fundraising event since succeeding Louis Stellato as county chairman.

Tickets for the private dinner reception go from $1,000 to $5,000 per person.

Gottheimer is raising money for Bergen Democrats just as he prepares for a primary challenge from the left mounted by Glen Rock Councilwoman Arati Kreibich.

Juliano is expected to use the funds to help Democratic candidates running at the local level.

At the top of the Bergen Democratic target list are two Republican mayors facing serious re-election challenges this fall: Woodcliff Lakes Mayor Carlos Rendo and Bergenfield Mayor Norman Schmelz.  Rendo was the GOP candidate for Lt. Governor in 2017 and Schmelz ran for Bergen County Executive last year.

Gottheimer raised more than $900,000 during the second quarter of 2019 and now has nearly $5.7 million cash-on-hand.  He has promised to help raise money for Democratic Assembly candidates running in 2019.

Juliano announced his endorsement of Gottheimer hours after the New Jersey Globe first reported that Kreibich would enter the race.
