A group of leading Republican women who run the Women for Stronger New Jersey PAC say that they are prepared to help Kate Gibbs raise money to help unseat Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) if David Richter switches to the 3rd district race.
“As individuals, outside of our affiliation with WSNJ, we are committed to supporting Kate Gibbs. We will ensure that she has the strong financial support necessary to get her message out in the primary and general election,” said former State Sen. Diane Allen, Candy Straight, Kathy Hugin, Laura Overdeck and Stacy Schuster in a joint statement.
Richter told the New Jersey Globe this morning that he expects to announce today whether he will remain in the 2nd district primary against Democrat-turned-Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew, switch to the 3rd district, or drop out of the race entirely.
“The historic lack of support for women seeking office at all levels has resulted in a lack of diversity among Republican candidates and officeholders in the party,” the group of women GOP leaders said. “Fortunately, we’re beginning to see a reversal of that trend. That’s why we were thrilled to see Kate Gibbs step up to run for Congress this year.”
