Three Republican legislators from Ocean County have endorsed Kate Gibbs for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.
Support from State Sen. James Holzapfel (R-Toms River) and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin (R-Toms River) and John Catalano (R-Brick) comes after the Ocean County GOP screening committee voted to back Gibbs’ bid to unseat Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) and in advance of the county Republican convention vote to award the organization line.
“We need a real conservative in Congress with a track record of getting things done. Kate Gibbs is a tax cutter, a job creator, and an emerging leader in our party who will help us fight Governor Murphy’s liberal policies here in New Jersey and support President Trump’s America First agenda in Washington,” the 10th district legislators said. “We endorse her 100% and will be voting for her at the Ocean County GOP Convention on March 4th.”
Gibbs, a labor leader and former Burlington County freeholder director, faces former Hill International CEO David Richter, Barnegat mayor John Novack and former Hainesport mayor Tony Porto in the race to pick a Republican challenger for Kim.
Kim narrowly unseated Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) in 2018.
