Bill Muller, the Republican mayor of Peapack-Gladstone has endorsed Democrat Tom Malinowski for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th district.

Muller is seeking re-election to a second term this fall and is running on a ticket with the five-term Republican incumbent, Rep. Leonard Lance.

“This Congress is not working together to produce meaningful results for the country and punishing New Jersey taxpayers in the process,” said Mayor Muller. “Tom Malinowski is the kind of out of the box thinker our area needs right now. He shares my values and can be the voice in Congress this district needs.”

Peapack-Gladstone is a small (pop. 2,582) borough in Somerset County.   It is predominately Republican – Donald Trump carried it with 54% in 2016 and Lance won it with 64%.

Malinowski has also been endorsed by three other Republican local elected officials: Alexandria Mayor Michelle Garay, Stockton Councilman Nic Messina, and former Clinton Councilman Dan Shea.

Muller faces independent Gregory Skinner, a retired police chief.  No Democrat filed to run.
