Associated Builders and Contractors New Jersey branch backs Richter, Gustafson, Trump

The New Jersey chapter of the Associate Builders and Contractors endorsed Republican House candidates David Richter and Claire Gustafson Thursday.

“Mr. Richter’s vision for a strong economy, cuts in taxes, and strengthening local and small businesses, is the pro-growth, open competition philosophy ABC-NJ supports,” ABC-NJ President Sam Fiocchi said. “His experience in both the legal and business sectors positions him to make legislative decisions that will help New Jersey businesses, no matter the size, succeed, grow, and create jobs, while reducing the burden on taxpayers.”

Richter, the former CEO of the construction management firm Hill International, is running to oust Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) in the third congressional district.

The first-term congressman’s re-election bid is one of a handful of closely-watched congressional races in the state.

“We believe Mr. Richter will work to uphold the ABC-NJ values of free enterprise and fair competition for the opportunity to be awarded contracts regardless of labor affiliation,” said Fiocchi, a former Republican Cumberland County Freeholder.

Gustafson is running to oust Rep. Donald Norcross (D-Camden) from his safely-Democratic first district seat.

The group also endorsed President Donald Trump’s re-election.

“Your continued support for fair and open competition, job creation, small businesses and expanded workforce development initiatives during your first term in office has helped ABC members grow their businesses, upskill their workforce and create career-enhancing jobs,” union’s national leadership said in a letter to Trump.
