The College Democrats of New Jersey have endorsed Josh Welle for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 4th District.
“With Congressional District 4 being competitive for the first time in years, it is crucial that the party is united behind the strongest candidate possible – Josh Welle is that candidate. He has continuously put public service above self,” said College Democrats president Megan Coyne. “As a millennial himself, Josh understands the issues that are most important to young people. In Congress, he will vigorously advocate on behalf of this generation whose concerns are often ignored in Washington.”
Welle faces former Asbury Park councilman Jim Keady in next week’s primary. The winner will take on 19-term Republican Rep. Chris Smith.
“It is an honor to receive the support of the College Democrats of New Jersey, a group of bright, young leaders that are greatly passionate about Democratic values. It is so crucial that we listen to and engage with the next generation of leaders in order to address issues of affordable housing, affordable college education, and accessible training for 21st century jobs,” said Welle. “I look forward to welcoming a coalition of young voters to this campaign and our mission to Flip the 4th.”
The College Democrats of New Jersey have 19 chapters at colleges and universities across the state.
