The New Jersey State Electrical Workers Association Construction division of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has endorsed Gov. Phil Murphy for a second term.
“Phil Murphy has been a strong advocate for the building trades and the IBEW and he has always worked with our association to create new opportunities for our membership” said Joseph Egan, the association president and a Democratic assemblyman from Middlesex County.
Egan, who represents IBEW Local 456 in New Brunswick, was joined by Pat Delle Cava of IBEW Local 102 in Parsippany, Dan Cosner of IBEW Local 351 in Folsom, Steve Aldrich of IBEW Local 269 in Trenton, Dan Gumble of IBEW Local 164 in Paramus, and Robert Shimko of IBEW Local 400 in Wall.
Delle Cava’s endorsement is significant. He was one of five people who serve on the board of Lead Right New Jersey, a super PAC formed in 2020 by allies of Doug Steinhardt, then the Republican State Chairman and a major contender for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.
“The Governor has consistently kept our organization in the forefront with creating green jobs for our membership whether it’s in the solar or wind industry or creating new opportunities for construction projects through the various state incentive programs,” said Egan, who is also the chairman of the Assembly Labor Committee.
The endorsement comes on the heels of a new poll that shows Republican Jack Ciattarelli in striking distance of Murphy.
