East Orange mayor backing Payne for Congress

Ted Green says his city can count on Democratic congressman

East Orange Mayor Ted Green has endorsed Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D-Newark) for re-election in New Jersey’s 10th district.

“Congressman Payne is the leader we can count on to get the job done, which is why he was able to deliver over $40 million in federal grants and funding to East Orange in 2021,” Green said.  “Congressman Payne understands the needs of our community, and he works hard every day to deliver federal resources to make our streets safer, provide more affordable housing, and deliver quality health care.”

Payne has already won endorsements from Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop.

East Orange is the third-largest city in the district.

Green said that “East Orange is behind Congressman Payne 100%.

“Our team will deliver for him in the Primary just like he’s always delivered for us in Congress.”

Payne faces a challenge in the Democratic primary from Akil Khalfani, a sociology professor at Essex County College, and mountebank vagabond Imani Oakley.
