Burlington County Republicans have decided to postpone county committee elections until June 2021 as part of a growing statewide trend to help combat the coronavirus pandemic by not requiring district leaders to publicly circulate nominating petitions.
“We believe that in the interest of public safety, and in consideration of the myriad of changes to elections that have been made and are possible to come, and with recommendation from the state party, that this is the best course of action,” said Burlington County GOP chairman Sean Earlen. “We will delay this year’s election and extend the current terms of our sitting committee members for one year.”
Both state parties have pushed county and local organizations to move 2020 county committee elections to next year.
