Assemblyman Clinton Calabrese (D-Cliffside Park) has become the first New Jersey legislator to test positive for COVID-19.

Calabrese started to experience flu-like symptoms nine days ago.  Although he felt better four days later, he did not attend the March 16 voting session of the Assembly.  He is “currently asymptomatic,” a legislative staffer said

“I am extremely thankful for the tremendous work our medical professionals are doing and strongly urge all people of our state, especially the younger generations, to be acutely aware of their risk and to take precautions by adhering to current state protocols,” the 34-year-old assemblyman said in a statement issued Saturday evening.
