Carteret Mayor Dan Reiman says he’s tested positive for COVID-19.
Reiman said he self-quarantined early last week after learning that he was in contact with others who have tested positive. He received his test results today.
“I later began to develop several minor symptoms of COVID-19 including a 24-hour fever, headache, muscle pain and a cough,” Reiman said. “Initially diagnosed as a seasonal upper respiratory infection, days later medical professionals advised me to undergo testing and to continue to self-quarantine pending the results.”
The mayor says he will continue to conduct official business through phone and email.
“Although the challenges presented by the Coronavirus have become personal to myself and many others, I am confident that our strength as a borough, state, and national community will ultimately define our victory over this global pandemic,” he said.
