Middlesex GOP moves county committee elections to 2021

By David Wildstein, March 22 2020 10:30 pm

Middlesex County GOP chair Lucille Panos has announced that elections for Republican county committee in Middlesex County originally set for the June 2 primary with be postponed for one year.

“The unanimous vote of the MCRO Executive Board to postpone the election took into consideration all the concerns regarding Coronavirus, particularly for the election, the constraints social distancing puts on the filing process,” Panos said.  “The MCRO joins the numerous Republican and Democrat State Committees throughout the State who have taken this action already.  The health and safety of the citizenry takes precedence over a one year postponement.”

By postponing, county committee elected in 2018 will serve until the Saturday after the 2021 primary election.
