A week from election, Malinowski appears at another Murphy event

Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) might’ve gotten another last-minute campaign boost from Gov. Phil Murphy Tuesday.

The congressman, facing a competitive re-election challenge from State Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean (R-Westfield), participated an event kicking off the open enrollment period for the state’s health insurance marketplace.

“Millions of Americans who lost their jobs in this pandemic were able to keep their health care because the Affordable Care Act was there for them, and today we’re making it even easier for New Jerseyans to enroll in more affordable coverage.” Malinowski said during the digital event. “Now we have to double down in Washington to make sure the Affordable Care Act is always there for us.”

Health care has emerged as one of the key issues in the seventh district’s race. Malinowski wants the Affordable Care Act preserved, while Kean wants to keep protections for pre-existing conditions and replace the rest of the plan.
