Rep. Donald Norcross (D-Camden) today endorsed Gov. Phil Murphy for re-election to a second term next year.
The South Jersey Congressman announced his support at a fundraiser this morning headlined by Murphy and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in Camden County.
Norcross’ brother, Democratic powerhouse George E. Norcross III, is a fierce Murphy rival who has threatened to back a challenger to the governor in the Democratic primary next year.
Today’s endorsements comes despite a war against George Norcross being waged by a Murphy administration task force investigating the striated tax incentive program.
Murphy endorses Norcross for re-election in New Jersey’s 1st districts last summer, but the congressman declined to reciprocate.
The governor has also received endorsements from Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones, Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano, and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, without announcing his re-election bid.
Norcross, a former Camden County Democratic chairman, also endorsed Gov. Jon Corzine for re-election in 2009.
