Berkeley Township councilwoman Judy Noonan has endorsed Kate Gibbs for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

Noonan is the only Berkeley Township local official to take sides so far.  The Republican municipal chair is the mayor, Carmen Amato.  The GOP has a 7-0 majority on the township council.

Berkeley Township was a stronghold of former Ocean County Republican chairman George Gilmore, who whose law firm represented the town until his indictment in 2019.

“I have gotten to know Kate and she is a good woman who will make a great Congresswoman,” Noonan said.  “Her high energy, leadership skills and knowledge as a public servant are impressive and she is exactly the kind of person we need to win back this congressional seat.”

Gibbs faces former Hill International CEO David Richter, Barnegat mayor John Novak and former Hainesport mayor Tony Porto at the Ocean County Republican convention last week.  Gibbs has already won the support of the Ocean GOP screening committee.

The winner will face Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton), who is seeking re-election to is second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
