The Week David Cruz had no A/C at a soup kitchen

Winner Losers
TOM DEGISE STEVE FULOP
The Hudson County Executive has peace in county politics and moves to end his deal with ICE, giving him a virtually unobstructed path to re-election in 2019 — and his daughter, Amy, presides over a party that appears exactly as unified as they want it to be. The Jersey City mayor fails in his bid to keep Democrats out of the Hudson Democratic fundraiser; 7 of 9 city councilmembers attended, and one who didn’t, Michael Yun, is hardly influenced by a mayor of increasingly waning power.
LEROY JONES LEONARD LANCE
The Essex County Democratic Chairman gets his first choice appointed as the new Essex County Prosecutor — a big deal in county politics. The five-term GOP congressman plays a little fast and loose with the facts in a new TV ad attacking his Democratic opponent, Tom Malinowski.
CORY BOOKER FRAN GRENIER
Not taking sides, but objectively the Democratic U.S. Senator showed considerable testicular fortitude — something that could propel his shot at the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. The former Salem County GOP chairman  violated state election laws by accepting $220,000 from the estate of a deceased Republican supporter, according to a Superior Court Judge’s ruling.
JOE LAGANA LAURA GRANELLI
The Democratic state senator draws a weak GOP opponent whose has already lost races for freeholder and councilwoman in a special election for 38 months in the upper house. The Neptune school board member and former Newt Gingrich for President supporter disrupts a Josh Welle press conference, pretending to be a concerned citizen.
DEMOCRATIC STATE COMMITTEE DAVID CRUZ
The state party adds 2.2 million cell phone numbers to their database — an enormous advantage in an era where voters either don’t have a land line, or don’t answer it — and they raise over $4.5 million.  The NJTV reporter was slightly tone deaf, loudly complaining about the lack of air conditioning at a press conference that was held at a New Brunswick soup kitchen that provides food for the poor.  Sorry he was a bit uncomfortable.
