Top Murphy aide still seeking post

Bergen County Democratic Chairman Louis Stellato says he’s staying put.

“Any reports that I am leaving my position as Chair of the Democratic Committee of Bergen County are completely unfounded and have zero basis in the truth,” Stellato said in a statement released tonight. “I am focused one hundred percent on working to re-elect US Senator Menendez, Congressman Pascrell, Congressman Gottheimer, Congressman Sires, State Senator Lagana, Assemblyman Calabrese, Assemblyman Mejia, County Executive Jim Tedesco, Freeholders Tanelli and Zur and Democrats up and down the ballot here in Bergen County.”

Adam Alonso, the deputy chief of staff to Gov. Phil Murphy, is preparing to leave his post to campaign for Stellato’s job, according to multiple sources.

It could mean that Stellato plans to serve until his term expires in June.
