Keith Kazmark, the Democratic mayor of Woodland Park, will be named Parsippany-Troy Hills business administrator on Tuesday, according to sources high in the administration of Mayor Michael Soriano.
Soriano is expected to submit Kazmark’s name to the council for confirmation, and sources say that he has the three votes need to move the appointment forward.
Kazmark, 40, stepped down as the Elmwood Park business administrator and municipal clerk last month after twelve years. Since then, he has been working on Mikie Sherrill’s campaign for Congress. He was elected mayor in 2011 after serving as council president.
He had originally been named to the Elmwood Park post by Mayor Richard Mola, a Republican who had been mayor for 45 years before his death in 2016.
The current business administrator, Ellen Sandman, had previously announced her intention to retire. She will remain on the town payroll under the end of the year to assistant with the transition. Some Republicans expect Sandman to seek the GOP nomination for Mayor of Denville in 2019.
Soriano was elected mayor in 2017, ousting incumbent James Barberio.
