Restaurants in great danger, industry group says

By Nikita Biryukov, April 21 2020 10:56 am

A survey conducted by The National Restaurant Association found restaurants in the country who have had their doors shut in response to the COVID-19 crisis are expected to lose nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars by the end of the year.

“The restaurant industry has been the hardest hit by the coronavirus mandates—suffering more sales and job losses than any other industry in the country,” NRA executive vice president of public affairs Sean Kennedy said.

Further, the organization called on Congress to pass measures creating a $240 billion emergency grant program and provide additional funding to the paycheck protection program, which provides loans to businesses so they can pay their employees during the crisis.
