NJ unemployment rate declines to 3.1%

New Jersey’s unemployment rate hit a new recorded low in September, the state Department of Labor announced Thursday.

The state’s unemployment rate edged down to 3.1% last month, down from 3.2% in August.

New Jersey is estimated to have added 44,600 jobs since last September with almost all of the gains, 43,400 coming from new jobs in the private sector.
