The mayors of the state’s two largest cities teamed up today for a fundraising event that reminds the New Jersey political establishment of the alliance between the two Democrats.

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop raised a reported $50,000 at a fundraiser today in Jersey City for Ras Baraka, who is seeking re-election to a second term as mayor of Newark in next week’s municipal elections.    Baraka is heavily favored to win against Central Ward councilwoman Gayle Cheneyfield Jenkins.

Fulop supported Baraka when he ran for mayor four years ago, and Baraka had been a likely supporter of Fulop had be run for governor last year.
