Former Bayonne Council President Sharon Ashe Nadrowski, a candidate for mayor, announced on Monday that longtime resident Gene Perry will run for a 1st Ward Council seat on her slate.
Perry, a longtime worker in the cargo industry, has volunteered in Bayonne youth and community programs for more than two decades. Perry will join Mark Bottino and Mariam Salama, who had already joined Ashe Nadrowski’s ticket as at-large council candidates.
“Gene Perry represents the kind of leadership Bayonne needs right now,” Ashe Nadrowski said. “He understands the First Ward because he’s lived it his entire life. Gene brings honesty, experience, and a willingness to listen, qualities that are essential for restoring trust in local government and delivering real results for our residents.”
Ashe Nadrowski challenged former Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis in 2022, finishing second and nearly forcing a runoff. Davis won a third term and was elected sheriff of Hudson County in November.
Ashe Nadrowski officially launched her bid for mayor last week; a couple of top Hudson County progressives, Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla (D-Hoboken) and former Jersey City Board of Education President Mussab Ali, attended, according to the Hudson County View.
Bayonne Councilman at-large Loyad Booker launched a bid for mayor in November.
