Hunterdon County’s first-in-the-state open convention to award an organization line the June 2 Democratic presidential primary is headed to a 3rd ballot in a contest between Michael Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren.
Bloomberg received 40 votes on the 2nd ballot, one head of Warren (39).
The other four candidates have been eliminated.
On the second ballot, Amy Klobuchar received 22 votes, followed by Pete Buttigieg (19), Bernie Sanders (17) and Joe Biden (12).
Warren led Bloomberg, 37-33 on the first ballot, followed by Klobuchar (23 votes), Buttigieg (20 votes), Biden (19 votes) and Sanders (19 votes).
Andrew Yang (2 votes) and Deval Patrick (zero votes) failed to get enough first ballot votes to advance.
Tom Steyer, Tulsi Gabbard and Michael Bennet did not have enough support to be nominated.
