Elizabeth Warren is surging in New Hampshire and is now in a statistical dead heat with Joe Biden, leaving New Jersey’s Cory Booker tied for 6th place with 2%, according to a new Monmouth University Poll of New Hampshire Democrats released on Tuesday morning.

Warren leads Biden 27%-25%, with Bernie Sanders at 12% and Pete Buttigieg at 10%.  Kamala Harris is at 3%.  Booker and four other Democratic presidential candidates – Tulsi Gabbard, Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer and Andrew Yang – are polling at 2%.

“Warren continues to look stronger with every new poll. She seems to be picking up support across the spectrum with gains coming at the expense of both Biden and Sanders,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.

A Monmouth Poll conducted in May showing support for Warren has increased by 19 points, while Biden has dropped 11 points.  Sanders is down six points and Harris is polling 3 points less than she was in the spring.

Booker’s 2% remains unchanged.

The New Jersey Senator has favorables of 49%-18% among New Hampshire Democrats.  That number has dropped from 54%-12% in the May Monmouth poll.

Most New Hampshire Democratic primary voters (61%) will pick a candidate they don’t agree with on most issues if they believe he or she can defeat President Donald Trump.

“I’ve traveled throughout New Hampshire and Iowa talking to voters who say they prioritize electability. I started to suspect they weren’t defining that term the same as pundits and decided to ask some follow-up questions,” Murray said. “These results suggest that many voters believe they have found a candidate who is the holy grail of issue alignment and electability, so they aren’t forced to make a calculated decision between the two factors.”

An Iowa Poll released Saturday night puts Warren ahead of Biden, with Booker at 3%.

The Monmouth University poll was conducted from September 16-21 with a random sample of 664 New Hampshire voters.  The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.9%.
