President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Edward S. Walsh, a Bedminster resident and the head of a national construction and real estate firm, as the new U.S. Ambassador to Ireland.
Walsh is a Trump friend and member of the Trump National Golf Club in his hometown. He won the club championship twice.
“He is also a champion golfer, a very good asset for the Ambassador of Ireland to have,” Trump said of the two-time Trump club championship.
He served as chairman of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority from 2010 to 2018 during Chris Christie’s two terms as governor. Walsh supported Christie for president in 2016, but not in 2024.
When Trump sought re-election in 2020, Walsh was a delegate to the Republican National Convention.
Walsh is the founder of The Walsh Company, Walsh Environmental Solutions, and Walsh PoE Lighting .
He is a former treasurer of the New Jersey chapter of the National Association of Industrial Office Parks.
