America First Policy Institute, a national think tank formed to promote Donald Trump’s policy agenda, has formed a New Jersey state chapter with Cape May County GOP Chairman Michael Donohue as chairman and Save Jersey editor Matt Rooney as executive director.
New Jersey is the group’s sixth state chapter and will prioritize tax cuts and reducing regulations, opposition to offshore wind projects, increased state government and transparency, support for law enforcement, and promoting a stronger voice for parents in their children’s education.
“As a proud New Jersey native, I am honored to support the launch of AFPI-NJ, a vital step toward protecting our shared values of faith, family, freedom, and meaningful work,” said Goya Foods CEP Bob Unanue, an AFPI board member. “By championing America First policies, we are laying the foundation for prosperity, security, and opportunity for every family in the Garden State. Together, we will ensure that New Jersey thrives and leads the way in putting America first.”
Donohue is a former Superior Court judge, and Rooney is the president of the Camden County Bar Association and the host of The Matt Rooney Show on 1210 WPHT.
POLITICO has described AFPI as the White House-in-waiting, and several key officials are departing to join the Trump administration next week. The founder, Brooke Rollins, is the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture-designate, and the chair, Linda McMahon, is slated to become Trump’s Secretary of Education.
