U.S. Senator Cory Booker, who is laying the groundwork for a presidential run, traveled to Plains, Georgia on Sunday to participate in President Jimmy Carter’s bible study class.
Booker was joined on the trip by civil rights icon John Lewis, a Democratic congressman from Georgia.
The New Jersey senator also met with Stacy Abrams, the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
Booker and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders both spoke today at a Martin Luther King Day rally in Columbia organized by the state NAACP.
