Republican Pohatcong Mayor James Kern defeated Demcoratic incumbent Warren County Freeholder John Massaro.
The 29-year-old mayor beat the incumbent by about 22 points, 61%-39%.
The freeholder elect received 21,814 votes. Massaro secured 14,155.
Kern was elected mayor in 2011, when he was 22 years old. He’s also the treasurer of the Warren County Republican Committee.
