Longtime Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler will defeat Republican challenger Brajesh Singh to win a sixth term, the New Jersey Globe projects.
Council President Gabrielle Cahill, Vice President Kapil Shah and Councilwoman Chanelle Scott-McCullum are on track to defeat Republican challengers Dhimant Patel, Jan Braverman and William Hopkins.
The victories mean Democrats will hold complete control of the Middlsex County town of about 56,000 for at least another two years.
Republicans will have a shot at winning a majority in 2022, when four of the seven Democrat-held council seats come up for a race, but it’s unlikely Republicans will have much of a chance in the solidly blue town.
