Eatontown might have to wait until all its vote-by-mail and provisional ballots are counted to declare its new mayor.

Republican Mark Regan is currently down 17 votes to independent Councilman Anthony Talerico. Talerico has 1,640 votes. Regan has 1,623.

Democrat Gerald Tarantolo ran as an independent. There are 590 recorded write-in votes in Eatontown, but it’s not clear whether 100% of those write-ins went to Tarantolo.

Democratic council candidates faired better than Tarantalo. Jasmine Story received 1,791 votes. Lisa Murphy got 1,762. That’s 21% and 20%, respectively.

Republicans James Corcoran and Vito Paolantonio both for 18% of the vote total, with 1,608 and 1,607 votes.

Independent Councilwoman Virginia got just 751 votes, 9% of all ballots cast.
