The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 82 today endorsed a slate of six Republicans for state and county office in Sussex County: State Sen. Steve Oroho (R-Franklin), Assemblyman Parker Space (R-Wantage), and Assemblyman Hal Wirths (R-Wantage), all from the 24th district; Sussex County Clerk Jeff Parrott; and Sussex County Commissioners Chris Carney and Dawn Fantasia.
The union, which represents professions such as heavy machinery operators, mechanics, and surveyors, has 8,200 members in New York and New Jersey.
“True friends have your back – Steve, Hal and Parker have been just that to the hard-working men and women of Local 825,” said Greg Lalevee, IUOE Local 82’s business manager, in a statement on the union’s legislative endorsements. “They deliver time and time again when it comes to infrastructure, labor protections and smart energy policy. We count on them, now they can count on us.”
All six endorsees are incumbents running for re-election, and none of them is expected to face a highly competitive race this November. Sussex County is solidly Republican, and the 24th legislative district combines it with parts of equally Republican Warren County.
