Two Republican Somerset County freeholders are criticizing their Democratic opponents for plans to attend a campaign rally with Bob Menendez today.
“Deputy Mayor (Shanel) Robinson and Sara Sooy have chosen to rally with one of the most corrupt politicians in the state, if not the country this week,” said freeholder director Patrick Scaglione. While our opponents prefer to stand side-by-side with a candidate who was accused and tried by the Obama Justice Department for accepting gifts and favors from a convicted felon, we continue to deliver results for Somerset County.”
Another freeholder, Mark Caliguire, used the attack on Menendez to talk about allegations that Robinson had a private e-mail exchange over a project to place statues on open space land in Franklin Township before the plan came up for a vote.
Caliguire, a close ally of former Gov. Chris Christie, lost a bid for State Assembly in the 16th district last year and considered a possible candidate for a rematch against Democrats Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick) and Roy Freiman (D-Hillsborough) in 2019.
Point of order:
The allegations were made by a still unidentified anon accuser were they not?
And ,Menendez was aquited NY a jury, with the federal gvt declining to refile any charges whatsoever.
Do I have that right?
Lies!!! There was no email exchange she was a recipient of an email.
